| Short Description | This proposal aims to: (1) provide a clear definition for what it means to be “Salesforce Ready”, (2) outline sample/recommended staffing related to using/supporting Salesforce, and (3) create a templated Salesforce Administrator job description |
| Why? | Many organizations are interested in using the Salesforce platform yet are unprepared for using a “platform” versus a “database”, for being part of an ecosystem, and for community-based learning. |
| How? | Documentation: Leverage existing information and tools (i.e., Trailhead 'Salesforce Basics for Nonprofits') and build upon it. Create a document and/or self-assessment to explain the reality of Salesforce (platform v database) Explain the commitment to learning and participating in the community. Encourage an internal user group structure and build capacity among staff. Draft a staffing structure for small to medium sized organizations. Draft a job description for the typical Salesforce Admin position. |
| Mission Alignment | Fill the gap in expectations between what nonprofits may believe Salesforce to be and what it is. |
| About Submitter(s) | Beth Saunders is an independent consultant who has worked with many organizations using the Salesforce platform. Beth believes Salesforce is an engagement platform rather than a "database" and therefore requires a different approach to implementation and maintenace. |
